Who may be able to join
- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 90 days before the screening visit

- People who are currently receiving, or expected to receive, treatment for diabetic eye disease (diabetic retinopathy) or fluid build-up in the eye (macular edema)
- People who have had more than one episode of severe low blood sugar in the 180 days before screening, or who have difficulty recognising the warning signs of low blood sugar
- People who have a significant medical condition affecting the upper digestive tract, or who regularly take medication that affects how the stomach moves or empties food
- People with a history of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), either short-term or long-term
- People with severe heart failure (the most serious level, known as NYHA Class IV)
- People with a personal or family history of a specific type of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid cancer) or a hereditary condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2
