- People who have had a serious heart or blood vessel event — such as a heart attack, stroke, heart failure, or a procedure to unblock arteries — in the past 6 months.
- People who have a medical condition that makes participation in a physical activity program inadvisable (confirm with trial site).
- People who are currently using insulin to manage their diabetes.
- People who have bone, joint, or other physical limitations that could make exercising safely difficult.
- People who are currently receiving treatment for a cancerous tumour (other than a common, non-spreading type of skin cancer).
- People who are currently being treated for, or have been diagnosed with, an eating disorder.
- People who have planned weight-loss surgery — such as liposuction, a gastric band, or gastric bypass — within the next 5 months.
- People who are currently pregnant, have given birth in the last 6 months, have been breastfeeding in the last 3 months, or are actively planning a pregnancy within the next 5 months.
- People who are currently taking part in, or planning to join, a weight loss programme during the study period.
- People who have lost more than 5 kilograms of body weight in the past 3 months.
