Who may be able to join
- People aged 21 to 65 years old at the time of signing the consent form.
- People of any sex (male or female).
- People who are overweight and also have at least one related health condition, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol or triglyceride levels, heart disease, breathing or joint problems, fatty liver disease, sleep problems, or another related condition.

- People with Class I, II, or III obesity whose attempts to lose weight through diet and exercise have not resulted in at least 5% weight loss over 3 months.
- People with Class I obesity, defined as a BMI of 30.0–34.9 for Caucasian populations or 27.5–32.4 for Asian populations.
- People with Class II obesity, defined as a BMI of 35.0–39.9 for Caucasian populations or 32.5–37.4 for Asian populations.
- People with type 2 diabetes confirmed by specific blood sugar measurements (confirm with trial site for the exact values that apply).
- People with a BMI between 25 and 40 at the time of their screening appointment.
- People who have already been independently prescribed the medication semaglutide (a GLP-1 receptor agonist) by their own treating doctor, separate from and unrelated to this study — the study does not prescribe or change this medication.
- People who have been on stable doses of any ongoing medications (such as blood pressure or cholesterol medications) for at least 8 weeks before screening.
- People who own an iOS or Android smartphone with internet access and are willing to download and use an app called "NutriSteppe" if assigned to the group that uses it.
- People who are able and willing to give written consent and follow the study procedures.
- Women who could become pregnant must agree to use effective contraception throughout the study.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.
- People with a history of diabetic ketoacidosis or a severe high-blood-sugar emergency called hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state.
- People who started semaglutide treatment less than 4 weeks before their screening appointment.
- People currently using insulin therapy.
- People with a personal or family history of a specific type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma.
- People with a personal history of a condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN2).
- People with a history of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), whether past or ongoing.
- People with active gallbladder disease or a history of gallbladder disease within the 6 months before screening.
- People with serious digestive conditions, including a condition where the stomach empties too slowly (gastroparesis).
- People who have had a major heart or stroke event within the 6 months before screening, such as a heart attack, stroke, mini-stroke, unstable chest pain, or heart bypass or stent procedures.
- People with poorly controlled high blood pressure (systolic above 160 mmHg or diastolic above 100 mmHg) at screening.
- People with significantly reduced kidney function, as measured by a specific blood test result below a set threshold (confirm with trial site).
- People with severe liver disease classified at a specific severity level, or with liver enzyme levels more than three times the normal upper limit.
- People with an active cancer diagnosis or a history of cancer within the past 5 years, except for certain successfully treated skin cancers (basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma).
- People with HIV, active hepatitis B (confirmed by specific blood markers), or hepatitis C infection.
- People who have had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery in the past, or who plan to have it during the study.

- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People who are planning to become pregnant during the study period.
- Women who could become pregnant but are unwilling to use effective contraception.
- People who have used weight-loss medications (such as orlistat, phentermine, or similar drugs) within 3 months before screening.
- People who have used oral or injected corticosteroid medications (not inhaled or topical) for more than 2 weeks in the 3 months before screening.
- People taking antipsychotic medications known to cause significant weight gain, unless they have been on a stable dose for more than 6 months.
- People who have participated in another interventional clinical trial within 30 days before screening.
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to semaglutide or any of its ingredients.
- People who do not own a smartphone or are unwilling to use digital health technology.
- People with a severe mental health condition that would prevent them from giving informed consent or following the study procedures.
- People with active alcohol or drug dependence within the past year.
- People with any other condition that the study investigator believes could affect participant safety or the reliability of the study results.
